FOTA WILDLIFE PARK
On the 7th march , myself and the rest of transition year went to fota wildlife park in county cork. we left at 7:25 am and arrived around 9:30 am.
We were first introduced to our tour guides. we were then brought into a building where we played a number of games like sheepdog and sorted out puzzles using tangrams. then we were separated into our groups (A and B) after that we headed out to start the tour.
the first animal we seen was giraffes and we then went to see where all the food for the animals were made I got a pleasant surprise when I found out they use nutella to give to the sick animals! there were three fridges the meat fridge, the fruit and veg and the freezer.
At around twenty past twelve we got our lunch and then carried on with the tour. we seen lions, tigers, bison's, lemurs, monkeys, warty pigs and lots more. we went to the building where they kept the reptiles and it was extremely warm! over all my favorite animals were the monkeys as they made a lot of noise and were very humerous
we then went back and all of our year got a talk by one of the tour guides on the native animals of Ireland. we were shown stuffed animals of Ireland that included badgers, stouts ,hedgehogs rabbits and fox's.
I really enjoyed this trip to the wildlife park because the animals were allowed to roam free and not stuck in cages. i liked the way the staff used methods that animals use to get their food like put the meat for the cheetahs on a zip line and they have to run after it like they were in the wild.
i found it very interesting and i learned a lot of information about native animals and i learned new things about animals. i would highly recommend this trip for anyone thinking of going.
